tied up skirt

A skirt inspired by a skirt worn by the one and only Olivia Dean as part of my closet copycat tiktok series. I used some silver aglets for then ends of the ties (from amazon) and a lining type fabric for the tie itself to make them drop nicer than they would being made of a more rigid fabric.

Pattern Details

I used a skirt I already owned as a pattern base for this project

Construction Process

  1. Get a skirt you like the look/shape of and trace front and two back pieces (don't forget seam allowance for side seams, hem and invisible zipper !)

  2. Cut out 1 in main fabric and 1 in lining fabric

  3. Sew skirt together and lining together

  4. Attach lining to main fabric skirt

  5. Sew on invisible zipper

  6. Hem skirt

  7. Sew a bunch of ties from a lining fabric

  8. Tie into ties and attach metal aglets to the tie ends

  9. Sew ties onto skirt

Techniques and Skills

Lining a skirt! First time doing this and it wasn't overly difficult thank goodness

Outcome and Evaluation

I think this skirt turned out so good - it's actually the skirt I have gotten most compliments on when wearing out which is always nice hehe
