I'm part of a set
pinstripe blouse
This project main purpose was to firtsly finally use the fabric that I had bought on a whim months ago and secondly to learn some new skills like sewing darts and attaching hooks and eyes. It turned out so rewarding and formed the first part of my matching set.
Difficulty:
Fabric:
Fabric:
Suiting material purchased from the Remnant Warehouse in Sydney
Notions:
Notions:
Hooks and Eyelets, Interfacing
Pattern Details
This pattern is called 'Silhouette Blouse' from Puff and Pencil. No alterations made
Construction Process
Print pattern on A4, cut out and tape together (printing on A0 definitely speeds this step up!)
Cut out the fabric! - and make sure to mark any notches such as the darts
Add iron on interfacing to the facing pieces - I used a medium interfacing
Zigzag the edges
Sew the darts by tracing them with chalk, sewing along the line from the side of the fabric to the tip (do not backstitch the end and rather just sew off the edge rounding the corner slightly - then tie a knot to secure)
Sew side panels to the front pieces matching the notches
Sew the shoulder seam
Assemble the facing and sew onto the blouse
Sew facing to the armholes
Add hooks and eyes
And finally secure the facing by hand with invisible stitches from the wrong side, ensuring you don't go fully through to the right side of the blouse!
Finito!
Techniques and Skills
Techniques used: Darts, Invisible Sittches, Topstitch
New sills learned: Darts and Invisible stitches
Outcome and Evaluation
So many new skills learned with this one yet quite an easy to follow pattern. I love how fitted it is making it quite a flattering piece. The hooks and eyelets look nice yet are a little flimsy - although that might just be my sewing.. I can think of so many adaptations of this pattern that I'd love to try!
