cowgirl mini dress

Reverse engineered CUE dress I got from the op shop. This one was challenging and I gave me a few mild heart-attacks and existencial crisis …. however I love how it turned out and I definitely want to draft up the pattern for this one so I can do it again and again!

Difficulty:

Fabric:

Fabric:

Cotton Poplin from The Fabric Store

Notions:

Notions:

Invisible zipper

Pattern Details

A CUE dress bought from vinnies unpicked and used as a pattern base. It was a little too tight for me so I made the top part of this dress a little longer and also shortened the dress to make it more of a 'mini'.

Construction Process

  1. Unpick all seams

  2. Lay out in front of you to ensure you know how things go back together! (take pictures as you go!!)

  3. Cut out pattern pieces from main fabric (making necessary adjustments)

  4. Assemble the top section

  5. Assemble the bottom skirt

  6. Sew top section onto bottom

  7. Add invisible zipper

  8. Hem bottom skirt to desired length

  9. Voila!

Techniques and Skills

Reverse-engineering and pattern altering skills have progresses thanks to this project :) Oh and pleats!

Outcome and Evaluation

So happy with this dress - one of my more intricate projects and how rewarding. I am still thinking of adding some more details like reverse applique or some eyelets but am slightly terrified of ruining it
